Skills2Learn are located in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire (there’s more than concrete cows and roundabouts!), so are within easy reach for most parts of the UK. Our head office is just 10 minutes from the M1 and 45 minutes from central London by train. We have also gone global - we have opened offices in the Middle East.

Majid Al-Kader

Dr. Majid Al-Kader (PhD, MPhil, BSc) – Managing Director

Majid has a wide experience in e-learning, virtual reality simulation, the education sector and commercial industries. He has carried out extensive research in pedagogical techniques and the use of multimedia in education and commercial training. He has a BSc in Mechanical Engineering, MPhil in Industrial Science and PhD in multimedia/e-learning. Over the years, Majid has established and managed e-learning departments at national and international companies.

Majid has formed and been chairing major learning consortia for the Further Education Sector. These Consortia bring together educational and commercial establishments, awarding bodies, sector skills councils, national skills academies and governmental departments to produce advanced e-learning, virtual-reality based programmes supporting learners, tutors and employers. Recent consortia including e-Construction, e-Renewable, e-Welding & Fabrication, e-Childcare, e-Nursing, e-Plumbing & Gas, etc. Majid has received several national and international awards for the innovative e-learning programmes that he has conceived and managed.

Additionally, he has authored and co-author numerous white papers published in technical journals and launched at conferences.

Chris Bielby

Mr. Chris Bielby (MBE) – Non Executive Director

Chris has led a number of national safety initiatives and has campaigned passionately to reduce the number of carbon monoxide incidents. His career at British Gas included the positions of Director of Integrity and Head of Safety. At Connaught Plc he was Group Business Integrity Director and now at Scotia Gas Networks he holds the position of Director of New Business, where he leads on the Green and Renewable Energies Agenda.

Mr Bielby is a member of the Energy Emergency Executive and Chair of the Gas Industry Safety Group (GISG) as well as being a Past President of the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers (IGEM) and a Member of the CORGI Trust. Chris has made a considerable contribution to Gas Safety Reviews over the last twenty years, which necessitated gaining support and contributions from leading industry executives, Ministers and key government agencies.

In 2007 IGEM awarded Chris a Special Award for Outstanding Services to the Gas Industry and in 2010 GISG presented Chris with a Recognition of Services to the Gas Industry and Promoting Gas Industry Safety Award.

Ann Limb

Dr. Ann Limb (OBE) – Non-Executive Director

Ann, who was born in Manchester, is a former Principal and Chief Executive of Milton Keynes College. Since 1986, when came to the city to take up that post, she has made her home in Milton Keynes and was recently commissioned by the Queen to serve as Deputy Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire. Ann was appointed as a member of the Milton Keynes Partnership Committee when it was established in June 2004 and took over as independent Chair in April 2008.

In the 2011 Queen’s Birthday Honours list, Ann was appointed an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire and is Deputy Lieutenant of the county of Buckinghamshire, where she has lived since 1986. Ann is the Chair of South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership. She has also founded two successful social enterprises - the Women Leadership Network and the Helena Kennedy Foundation.

Ann was a member of former Prime Minister Tony Blair’s digital inclusion panel. She also sat on the education committee of Leader of the Opposition David Cameron’s public services improvement policy group. And she worked with Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg when he was a Member of the European Parliament.

Mr.Jeremy Bending - Advisor to the Skills2Learn Board

Jeremy is a charted engineer by trade and is currently the Chief Operating Officer at National Grid. His career in the gas industry began nearly 40 years ago when he joined as a graduate trainee.

His work experience included 10 years in construction, commissioning and operation of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plants within the UK and in 1986 he was seconded to Tokyo Gas Company for 14 months, working predominantly in their LNG Production Division.

In 2000, Jeremy was appointed Head of the National Transmission System (NTS), then becoming the Network Director for South of England in 2002. Later in 2002, he joined National Grid as Director of Network Strategy and held this position until 2012 when he became National Grid’s, Chief Operating Officer.

Over his career, Jeremy has made a huge contribution to the gas industry as we know it today and his work has encompassed the technical, operational and commercial areas of the industry. He played a crucial role in National Grid’s development strategy in the early 90s and more recently successfully led the gas distribution business through a number of strategic changes as it prepared for the introduction of RIIO.

Jeremy has held prestigious appointments such as Chairman of the International Gas Union and President of IGEM in 2010/11. In May 2014 his contribution to the industry and outstanding career was recognised with the IGEM Lifetime Achievement Award.
